SUMMER SIPS: MATCHA LEMONADE

If you follow RefuTea on Instagram or see our posts on Facebook, you may have found yourself dreaming of our most recent and long-asked-for flavor: Bengal Matcha!

In case you didn't know, matcha is a very unique tea blend and unlike any of our other flavors. The reason it comes in a powder form is because it is actually finely ground green tea leaves, which is how it gets its intense color. Many coffee-drinkers are adding it to their morning routine due to its high-caffeine content. Much like espresso is a highly concentrated form of coffee, matcha is a highly concentrated form of tea!

Along with its morning-kick benefits, it is high in EGCG, an antioxidant which "...
is a powerful compound that may benefit health by reducing inflammation, aiding weight loss, and preventing certain chronic diseases."*

RefuTea's matcha is infused with a delicious and simply sweetening vanilla. Named after West Bengal, India (a state on its easternmost coastline, bordering Bangladesh), it is steeped in rich eastern-asian history. It's been around since the 12th century! You may have heard of West Bengal's capital, Kolkata, where Mother Teresa did her infamous mission work.

For our summer sips series, we wanted to give you an option to enjoy this new drink on a hot day. Matcha is strong- most people prefer it with some milk and sweetener- but switch that out for lemonade and you'll be glad you tried it!

SUMMER SIPS: AMBER PEACH & CREAM

Summer is officially underway! Here in Michigan, it took a while for the heat to come but once it did, we were in full gear. We switched out our mugs for glasses and ... for ice cubes.

I don't know about you but once the temperature reaches above 70 degrees, I begin craving iced tea. Fortunately for me, I know a good brand. RefuTea makes some of the best hot and iced tea and if you haven't tried both yet, you're missing out.

Throughout the next season I will be posting six recipes featuring RefuTea and an extra twist so that you can enjoy fun flavors all summer long. Watch for "Summer Sips" posts as you scroll through your news feed! You can always check the website, too.

To kick off Summer Sips, we're starting with a classic: Amber Peach. I remember growing up loving anything that resembled a creamsicle in the summertime. That's what inspired this combo.

What's extra special about it is the cream soda. Kittywampus is a local brand out of Holland, Michigan which focuses on "
artisanal small-batch sodas using natural ingredients". You can find out more about the brand here. I got it at Cubi Market when I was restocking tea there a few weeks ago. They have great local products from butchers, farmers, and vendors; plus, easy-to-use curbside pickup!

Okay, that's enough talk- let's get to the action! Let me know how you like the recipe by posting a photo and tagging @RefuTea with the hashtag #RefuTeaSummerSips.

Enjoy!

Amber Peach & Cream Recipe
Amber Peach RefuTea & Kittywampus Cloud Hopper Cream Soda
Servings: 6-8 cups

1. Cold brew your Amber Peach RefuTea by combining a half pack (6 tablespoons loose leaf)  with 4-6 cups filtered water in a tea pot or glass pitcher. Allow tea to chill in the refrigerator overnight.

2. Remove tea infuser or, if you used a glass pitcher, you may need to strain the tea leaves out of the cold brew tea.

3. Add 16 ounces of cream soda to one serving (8 oz) of chilled peach tea.

4. Add some ice cubes, a fun straw, and sip away!
