Why help refugees?
Refugees are individuals who have been forced to leave their country due to forces outside their control. The United States government accepts a number of refugees per year and grants refugee status as a country of asylum. When refugee status is granted, the refugee is matched with a resettlement agency and signs a promissory note indicating they will repay the U.S. government for their travel costs. The host resettlement agency then aids refugees in integration.
This is where RefuTea comes in.
Employment is one of their biggest needs when resettling. Providing a job for a refugee not only reduces the need to be on government assistance programs, it allows them to better integrate into their local community by becoming a part of the workforce. Many of these people happen to be skilled tea farmers who will be able to use their agricultural skills to grow and blend tea in the greenhouse.
The goal is to educate others about refugees as we provide a way for them to integrate into our communities.
