august update: explosions in Beirut

On August 4th, explosions devastated Lebanon's capital city of Beirut.  The below resources provide insight into the responses of two organizations: the UN and World Vision.

The UN News reports the World Food Programme will assist with food security as the WHO continues to combat COVID-19 in Lebanon.

World Vision noted that approximately 300,000 people were immediately displaced by the explosions.

Additionally, according to the World Economic Forum, Lebanon has a very high concentration of refugees; 1 in 6 residents are seeking refuge in the country.
